These 16 fly fishing lessons give the angler a series of activities and drills which illustrate the fundamentals of fly fishing. As a Master Casting Instructor, I still do these fly casting drills every day I practice. Even the most advanced angler can use these activities and ideas to improve their performance! This section spans critical information for starting to cast the right way, including proper fly rod loading, loop formation, and extending fly line.
These 16 fly fishing lessons that cover casts that will allow a fly angler to catch fish in virtually any situation anywhere in world. Being versatile in casting a fly rod requires a good basic understanding of casting mechanics and a good basic false cast. It’s highly recommended that if a person is having trouble mastering these casts, that they go back to the previous section and work through the basic fundamentals of casting a fly rod.
ON THE WATER FISHING CASTS
These 8 lessons put core fly fishing casts learned in the previous chapters to the test as the fly fishing coach walks you through casting on the water. The coach teaches you tricks and tips for applying different casts to different situations depending on the weather, water, or fish you are trying to present to. This section also includes fly fishing lessons on wading in difficult rivers and streams, presenting to fish downstream, curve casts, mends, hooking a fish, fighting and finally landing a fish on fly fishing gear. Each lesson in this section is fundamental instruction for taking what you have learned in previous sections to the water when fishing.

These 17 fly fishing lessons cover gear, fly fishing photography, care of equipment, and gear organization. Dayle covers some of the biggest interests of both beginner and advanced fly fishing enthusiasts including fly rods, fly lines, waders, boots, reels, tippets, knots, flies, and much more.
